STARSIGN

Dave (aka Starsign) is a professional graphic designer based out of Austin, TX.

Back when he was a struggling (that means broke) freelance designer, he realized he could use his passion for music as a means to make money.

Since he was already spending all of his cash on vinyl, he decided to start deejaying and was playing at some of the city's finer establishments shortly after.

He needed a dj handle. The idea of paying tribute to old school hip hop legends came to him after he found out that Pink Floyd was named after two old blues musicians (Pink Anderson, and Floyd Council).

He chose the name "Kool Hollywood Starshine La Roc", (a bit of a mouthful so he shortened it to Hollywood Starshine) and later just DJ Starshine (a combination of DJ Starchild and L.A. Sunshine).

Friends of his misheard the name and called him Starsign instead. After the 5th time, he decided to change it yet again and the name finally stuck.
