We're back at a new venue, Copa
Bar ( 217 Congress Ave.)   About MoreTempo... Inspired by sample-era hip hop's "all inclusive mentality" of taking disparate elements to create something new, MoreTempo is an eclectic dance party brought to you by Starsign and Nicknack on a 2x4 setup. DJs Starsign and NickNack pull selections from a broad spectrum of musical genres including but not limited to soul, dub, disco, electro, hip hop, raregroove/funk, latin, house and rock. The format is an anything-goes, unpredictable set on 4 turntables. Our mission is to create a fun, soulful party in a no-attitude atmosphere for anyone with a genuine love of music to come together and celebrate. Artists played at past events: NickNack is an Austin-based producer/turntablist. Apart from making records and touring the world, you can find Nick performing/touring with the jazz band BLAZE, rocking dance floors at various clubs or producing unique showcases such as his live turntable score of the classic silent film Metropolis. Starsign is a deejay, graphic designer and record collector. Mostly known for holding down a number of weekly residencies at swanky downtown spots and playing an eclectic mix of jazz, deep house, soul and downtempo, these days Starsign chooses to keep a low profile by playing events where people don't make requests for Nelly songs. Starsign is also the founder of the Parakitachi DJ Collective, which focuses on diverse beats and cultured grooves.

with a refined ear for music and a percussionist's timing, you're bound
to hear mixes that include elements of jazz, soul, dub, house, electro,
hip hop, broken beat, latin, rock and underground all blended into one diverse
musical journey. Such dedication and expansive knowledge of music has taken
him to New York City, Paris, Stockholm, Amsterdam and beyond. |
